Do You Manage Commercial Properties in QLD?

If your answer is YES, then this information is for you

In Queensland, if you are an owner, business or tenant that is occupying, or managing a building, it is your legal obligation to ensure that people can evacuate safely and quickly in the event of fire or emergency. It is also your responsibility to ensure that the required fire safety installations for the building are maintained and operate in the way they were originally intended.

The onus is on you to provide maintenance of Fire Safety Installations, clear evacuation routes and fire evacuation planning and instruction.

Checklist

  • MAINTENANCE OF FIRE SAFETY INSTALLATIONS/SAFETY MEASURES
  • CLEAR EVACUATION ROUTES
  • ANNUAL OCCUPIERS STATEMENT

*All obligations above are laid out in these legislative documents; The Building Act 1975 Building, Fire Safety Regulations 2008, Queensland development Code MP 6.1 and Building Fire Safety - Management Tool & Advisory Notes (QLD Government).
